Does your wife/husband/girlfriend/boyfriend come to your gigs?

My lovely missus comes to most of our gigs, the drummer's wife comes to all of them, but the wives of the bassist and the other guitarist never turn up at all. (I know they exist though, as I've met them elsewhere!)

What about the love of your life - groupie or non-groupie?

    Often, but not always.

  • Very rarely. Although by and large she doesn't like going to see bands much anyway.

Groupie but then she's in 2 of the 5 outfits I play in.

One thing I've found is when the wives attend, their bar bill for the night tends to exceed what we're paid!

  • She has to or there's no-one to sing - OK I sing some but it would leave a lot of instrumental filler.

  • My missus has been to see us once since our boy was born in 2005.

I have persuaded Mrs Bigjon to come to precisely one of my gigs in twenty years. She spent the whole time in the other room of the pub talking to her friend. Just as we were playing the last note of our encore, she came in and said "Oh, have I missed you, what a shame!" with vast insincerity. :-)

Sometimes. Three jam eaters aged tween two and nine kind of curtail things.

  • Mrs. Cadet comes to the occasional one if someone has the kids but that's not often. She used to come to quite a few in the early days as she got jealous but when noticed that for some reason I pull more blokes than birds at gigs she's not that fussed now.

If I gigged (which I never have), no, mrs A would not turn up. She has no interest in any of my music.

..... and yet she expects me to be interested in her tae-kwon-do!

  • All of ours used to during the period that I was in one very busy band, and the singers wife was our manager.  She actually had experience managing artists and helped us a lot, but it all only lasted about 2 years.  When I went into my "solo guitar" phase my wife came out sporadically, our daughter was born around then and that slowed her down, plus, a lot of my gigs were far far away.....

Mrs Widdly turns up occasionally  if it's a local gig and she can persuade one or more of her mates to come. She hates sitting in pubs on her own!

  • Only occassionally when playing close to home. Also reached that age when post midnight finishes are too late..

  • She does when they're local - although she stopped coming to BHD's gigs a long time before I left, mainly because it was a bit too heavy for her. She seems to really like the new band's songs, so I'm optimistic that she'll come along a bit more often :)

Absolutely - she comes to mine and I go to her piano concerts (and turn pages usually).
