  • I'd rather play one 1 tele + bigsby than play with a room full of Holly Willoughbys'.

Also is it Willoughbys, Willoughbys', or Willoughbies?

I think they're great, but only if they're done right - there are a lot of nearly-right ones that look wrong.

Right: must use the proper F Bigsby and the bridgeplate with the JM-style bridge. (The bridgeplate is really nice, in the way the shape echoes that of the whole body.) And no holes in the back, so a conversion is only acceptable on a top-loader.

I also think they look better on the Custom Tele (bound, not neck humbucker) and Thinline, and best of all on a bound Thinline, which Fender never originally made. One of those in black is pretty much the only Tele I would buy now.

I love that badger too :).

I would take the Willoughboobies every day of the week

The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.
