There'll be at least a couple of manufacturers out there where a designer is saying "hang on, though..." :)

I thought that. The idea of a delicate glass tube hanging out of the end of a socket on a lead seems a bit far fetched.

    No, it's real.
I helped in trialling the prototype. It adds lovely tubey goodness and warmth to an otherwise sterile sounding digital modeller.

I wasn't intentionally being sassy with my comment btw! This was one of those where it seriously could've gone either way! :-D

Digital modellers sound sterile? Shurely shome mishtake...?

Now that you mention it, it does seem a bit foolhardy.

Still not as weird as reality. Anyone remember the AOpen tube motherboard back in the day?

Hence why I stuck with my Vox Tonelab LE and SE - 12AX7 tube built in, not to merely 'warm-up' but effectively its in the power-amp section where you need it.  Not counting expensive new stuff like Helix, Amp FX, Amplifire, Kemper etc, these are IMHO still the best sounding and easy to use MFX Modellers for gigging use out there and why so many players still swear by them.
I started out with nothing..... but I've still got most of it left (Seasick Steve)
