PSA: Ampmaker SE5A w/custom head cab

What's Hot

Not sure what the rules are here but it looks a good deal and in a rather fetching red head cab. It's on a popular internet auction site at a decent price with five hours to run.

No affiliation to the seller!

Made by Mapmaker apparently. From personal preference and experience I wouldn't buy something like that unless I'd seen some good photos of what quality the build is inside the chassis.

And I definitely wouldn't buy a head cab in dayglo red !!

I don't mind the day glo red, but it is illegal to sell an amp kit that is not built to any controlled standard and without required markings etc

Interesting, what markings would it require? CE and PAT testing?

    All of them......

Seriously if it not right on the outside it likely won't be right on the inside

Really? Why would it be illegal for  a private seller to sell an amp kit they've built themselves?

^^^ This. I was going to ask exactly the same, for in that case auction houses would be breaking the law if they were selling vintage and antique amps (that didn't have the required markings) on behalf of individuals or other organisations / shops.

It's a strange situation because shops selling old electrical lamps etc often cut off the leads as it may be deemed wrong to sell electrical stuff that could be hazardous.

Not sure of the legality though.

    That's shops.

Nothing to stop you selling electrical equipment privately.

    Image result for electric chair

I sold this electric chair recently and it didn't have any safety standards markings.
