Pitch Shifting/Octave Pedal

So, I've got a EHX Pitchfork which is cool and everything, and whilst the tracking is great, it has quite a bit of digital noise and lacks a few features that make it less useful. It doesn't sound particularly natural to my ears.

I've been looking at the Boss Harmonist PS-6 as it can do the pitch bending stuff without an expression pedal, and it sounds a bit more natural in demos at least.

Are there any others I should consider? I'd use it for octave mainly but having the choice for harmonies would be great. I'd also consider a multi-FX unit like the Line 6 M5 or H9 (a bit expensive though).

Whaddya reckon? Budget would be less than £100 for a stand alone; I'd consider any decent multi-fx though that might encompass other 'fringe' effects.

If footprint isn't an issue just get a Whammy and be done with it.

^ that. Whammy 5 is the most board / power friendly iteration. That or a POG.

M5 has a decent pitch shifter with good tracking, poor polyphony and a surprisingly large range of harmonies- does pentatonic, harmonic and melodic minor and whole tone scale harmonies as well as yer standard major and natural minor.

It doesn't sound very natural (I don't think there's a pitch shifter that does, at least not beyond a few semitones) and really needs an expression pedal to get the most from it (to get anything at all from the whammy modes). Still, you could probably get an M5 and an expression pedal used for under £100 without much trouble.

FWIW, it also has a bass octaver model (supposedly an EBS Octabass) which sounds a little better than the regular pitch shifter for that particular job, and it can turn its hand to some extremely "fringe" effects in the filter section.

@Slimbert @GavRichList Space is an issue, and I'd like polyphony if possible.

POG is definitely an option but is that any different from the Pitchfork? Surely fewer features?

I didn't like the Pitchfork, don't like the PS-6 (tracking is very iffy). Whammy 5 clear winner to me.

There is of course the pedal that sits at #1 on my very short list of remaining pedals I want; the TWA Great Divide. My god that thing looks incredible.

Also worth mentioning that the whammy 5 has the chords setting now, which tracks immaculately

Got to justify the price tag somewhere. Sure it does. 

Their write up says that that the lower voice is mono, and upper poly.

Yup - just been checking out the page. Polyphonic upper register. Seems like a complex pedal internally!
