Hamstead Artist 20?

What's Hot

Very tempted by the spec and demos I've heard. To be used as a pedal platform with a Helix.

Any owners with an opinion? Any advantages/disadvantages to the tone when comparing the Artist 20 and the RT model (reverb/trem)?

I would go combo with the creamback.

British, hand build, simple, single channel, high headroom british flavoured tone. what's not to like?

I have the 20 +RT Combo with Creamback. Had it about a month and gigged it for the first time last night. Best amp I've had in 40 years. End of. Perfect for pedals. I keep it clean on triode mode at home (9W) and pentode mode (20W) for band practice and gigs. Its loud at full chat. And completely silent!!!
The other thing I like about it is the 4 button footswitch which I've velcro'd onto my pedalboard as it controls reverb, tremolo, boost and effects loop. I use Thorpyfx pedals and they are brilliant with it. If you demo one you'll want one. I got mine from GAK. They also have a 5 year warranty - a reflection of the hand built quality.
    Good luck with your gassage.

I am not young enough to know everything

I managed to play one a month ago. Very well built, great looking & more importantly sounding amp. My Lazy J20 is more 3D to my ears, but to be fair I love the sound of the LJ so of course I'm going to sway towards it. The Hamstead does seem to have a "thing" of its own, wonderful trem & reverb and plenty of tone shaping capabilities. If I didn't own or absolutely love my Lazy J then I'd definitely take a another test drive at the Hamstead HQ with my pedals etc.

You mean this video @57Deluxe ?

If you either edit a post or use the draft version the forum editor, in it's wisdom, replaces the YT link with a link to the .jpg picture file for the YT video instead ~ it's not a bug, it's a feature sir !

    Duration 20:53

Mike Caswell is sadly missed, great bloke and a great player.

After much consideration I went for a Morgan PR12 in the end, should get it tomorrow. The Hamstead is sure a lovely looking and sounding amp though.
