Newton Faulkener  is the support act on  Amy McDonald's current tour, and he did bo rep on an acoustic. It was absolutely amazing.

Clearly a talented pro player with a different take on a classic track, but frankly all that excessive bending & pitch shifting did absolutely nothing for me.  Not my cup of tea I'm afraid, but thanks for posting it though.

It was excellent playing, just a shame for me that I can't stand that song.

And I agree with Voxman, the pitch shifting was a bit overdone.

takes some nads to stand in front of a crowd like that on your own, with just an acoustic guitar

Didn't like that song when it was first released and I like it even less now.

It's truly a masterpiece as a song and he is a great musician
The pitch whammy and divebombing spoilt it for me but I could only wish to be able to articulate myself musically that well

No, didn't enjoy that at all. Found it annoying and too over the top.

Is there any need to do things like this.  To rip a song apart and put some small part of it back.  Singers singing out of tune really get up my wick.  The guy with the acoustic - there must be thousands of songs he could sing.  Yet he chose one that he failed to reach most of the notes.  The first video shows how inadequate a guitar really is for playing complex pieces.  It is a great rhythm or lead instrument but it can't do everything and that guy, talented as he is, proved it.

I don't recall seeing that Newton Faulkner version before.
Never seen a crowd go so mental for a busker!

Newton Faulkner was amazing live. He called this piece his "Party Trick", and I guess that is how it is supposed to be taken.. Everything else he did was his own material, and very good it was too.

@Voxman go check him out live if you can. His first album Hand built by robots is very good. He is one of those people that seems to love playing the guitar and is also jaw droppingly good at it.

@Rocker because it works live. It brings a party feel.He often does it or teardrop as an encore. It's fun. Sometimes that's what music should be.
