Gibson Custom Art Historics

Hello,does anyone know just how good the early Gibson 57 58 59 Historic Les Pauls were.
Did they have Brazilian rosewood and what pickups were they putting in them.

Oops did not make that very clear I meant the reissue les pauls.

Ive had a nunber from that era, all good guitars , 1 was a great guitar. Some had brazillian boards and you can chek the serial number of said guitar against a brazilian verified  database  i think.

I have a 1997 57 Re Issue Custom,(3 pickup) & a 1998 R8.  I've had the opportunity to compare hem, with a lo of, earlier, Historic Re Issue's, (93 - 98) & 2000's - 2017.

Obviously I'm biased, but, None have come close to my 2. Even some of the True Histoics costing over £5000.

The "Purists" claim, various points were inaccurate, but for me, they are very resonant.

Both came with 57 Classics, & I've experimented with various  makes, but the 57's are Ok.

I settled on a mix of Lollar Imperials & unspotted 57 Classics.
