Riiiiiiipping noise when using Guitar Rig Via Reaper

So Im running a Windoze 8 machine, Reaper and Guitar Rig 5. When I record using Guitar Rig as a VST it makes a ripping kinda noise which gets worse when I add anything else (i.e EZdrummer or another channel). 

Ive got 4 gig of RAM but it that enough or do I need more? or is it a drivers issue?

Info please. Audio interface, processor, what the soundcard is set up like with regards to buffers etc... tearing noise is probably indicative of a too-low buffer setting.

Sounds like a latency issue to me ..

Buffer size was set to 128... Moved it to 256 and problem gone!
