Last month, as I posted, my best mate passed in a fluke accident.

He was a brilliant cricketer, very unlucky not to play internationally. Left arm spinner and smashed it with the bat.

It's been tough for all and I've missed him every day.

So, with the help of a mate who is a bat maker, Paul 'Aldo' Aldred and Randomhandclaps' indesign skills (ex of this parish) we've made, for the family, a commemorative bat-

Paul is making the bat; my contribution are these- the facepic goes on front of the bat, the other labels are for the back.

it's been a remarkably theraputic excercise for both Aldo and I. If anyone ever is grieving, I really recommend channelling your efforts into something positive like this.

We are all also very open about doing all of this- his life is to be celebarated, not mourned and happy to share these pics.

I've mocked them up on mine, but when on the 'real' bat the white background will all be omitted (it's the backing sheet to the transfers) so it'll just be black onto wood, and wood showing through where the white backing sheet is.

There's a feint stripe of MCC eggs and bacon colourway on the front too.

I hope you're all okay.  A part of you goes with them somehow. It can be hard.  And then on the other hand they gave you so much too.
