The covers band we have re-kindled are gigging again and we are putting together set lists. We have a private gig first up in the calendar and we are playing a short rock 'n' roll set, see below.
Van Morrison - Moondance
Eddie Cochran - Summertime Blues
The Stones - Walking the Dog
The Band - Who Do You Love
Buddy Holly - Rave On
Ricky Nelson - Hello Marylou
The Stones - Brown Sugar
Johnny Cash - Folsom Prison Blues
Them - Baby Please Don't Go
The Beatles - I Saw Her Standing There
Chuck Berry - Jonny Be Goode
The other gigs we have are more typical covers-type gigs so I'm wondering what songs you would include or exclude from the above list, if not all? To quote the event organisers: 'we want people dancing!'
Secondly, what absolute staples should we include in our regular sets?
Cheers!
Comments
Moondance - nice way of bringing the set in.
Johnny Be Goode - Great way of ending the set.
Brown Sugar - possibly.
If the organiser wants people dancing/singing along etc then throw out any songs you would like to do

There'll a load more that I can't think of that I'm sure other folk chip in with. Iv'e found a lot of it depends on where you play certain songs in your set. Many work best towards the end of the set when the crowd are well oiled.
