1) In these computerised times, there aren't many people with the time, patience and inclination to learn how to operate "obsolete" digital recording hardware. goldtop strikes me as a seasoned Roland V-Studio user. (The only other one I know is a legendary member of the Seymour Duncan User Group Forum from Murfreesboro, TN.) I prefer to believe that this gear is going somewhere it will be appreciated.
2) Earlier this year, I pre-ordered a limited production run American electric guitar. Despite the fact that the guitar is already paid for, I feel the need to cull underused gear. This allows me to deceive myself that I am counterbalancing the outlay on the new guitar. It also finances boring but necessary day-to-day items such as car maintenance and food.
3) I live in a two bedroom ex-Ministry Of Defence flat. I simply do not have the space in which to store all of the equipment that I would like to hoard. Back-up duplicates of equipment that I will never use live onstage can/should go.
I have a bunch of MIDI synthesizers, samplers and related accessories that I could manage without. I have a silly number of guitars and bass guitars. Many of these could probably go and rarely be missed.
Although I often enjoy trading kit, this entirely fails to properly cull the herd. I have reached an age where I need to get a grip on the situation before my health prevents me from physically lifting things.
