Putting text/words on a truss rod cover..

Ello all,

My Ltd explorer just has a plain black (2 ply I think) truss cover, and I've been meaning to write its name on it for some time.
I know I could just source an actual Esp one, with Esp written on it, but I figured firstly I don't know if it will fit, and secondly, I like the idea of it being a bit more custom :)

So, my initial idea was to go to a van sign writing place and have them print out a vinyl sticker (the type with no background, just the writing, real small, in a nice font, and stick that on it. Which would mean its reversible if one day I wanted to change it etc.
Pretty sure the place I used to use did various colours/shades of vinyl which is a bonus.

But is there any other ways of doing this? Would a pen/paint pen work and be durable enough, ie not flake off..

Don't know if there is an actual professional way of inscribing these bits (backplates, truss covers etc), but I can't imagine it would be very cheap, and money is tight!

Any ideas welcome though!

Self adhesive clear/white paper for your inkjet.  Print off whatever design you like cut to size and stick it on.  You could clearcoat over the top for extra protection if you want too.  If you want white text then use white paper and fill the background with black.

This seems like a great deal of time, trouble and expense for something that only the owner would ever notice.

Search for white Letraset dry-transfer lettering sheets on eBay.  You must 'fix' it with spray lacquer after you've applied it.

Get it engraved at somewhere that does dog tags or trophies. Not reversible of course but it would look better than a sticker.
