I am far too IT illiterate to do this stuff, pleased that I got a photo up but then couldn't do photo and words together. Anyhoo, looking for something on my phone pictures and thought I would post this up as it is vaguely forum related. A couple of years ago on MR I started a thread about motorhome hire. I don't think anyone had experience of it but there were some useful thoughts. Two years later we have done it twice and this was us a few weeks ago. Probably unlikely anyone can spot where this is from the photo but it is a pretty famous place in Scotland (or the campsite at the famous place) and the view in the distance might be a clue so I will leave it as a puzzle for the moment.

A tip, as most wysiwyg editors, including this one do querky things . Type the words first, then click somewhere below the text, then add your pic.

Looks like you had a nice time. ;)

    Ahh, yes!

A US company has bought the old hotel and is developing the area as an upmarket leisure resort so the campsite next door seems to be the last bit of an older style resort, may not be long before they buy it up and cover it in eco cabins. For the campers at the front of the site amazing views.

Are you sure it's actually in Scotland???

Just that the sky looks blue (albeit only in places) .....

Having trouble posting images here?  This might help.

    Oi you!
We get amazing skies up here. It's a stunning day today, although there is a bit of a wind.

@EricTheWeary I camped at Thurso years ago and watched a lighting storm over Orkney. Fookin ace!
You should have popped in on your way up/down.

Our dog, so English but his bowler hat had blown off.
We had sunny weather at John O'Groats, about the only place it didn't rain.I think the wind wouldn't let it come down.

I remember camping at Dunnet bay a few years ago, lovely it was too if a little windy. I recall that the wife and I enjoyed a lovely walk along the beach, picking up  shells along the way, to bring back for the kiddies at the primary school where my wife works, until we got to the other end of the beach were we found  a sign advising visitors not to pick up things from the beach due to the risk of radioactive contamination!

We left the shells in a neat pile on the beach. I've not been right since.

Beat me to it... looks like Hoy in the distance.

We were over there (Orkney Mainland actually) a few weeks ago - fantastic weather. It can be really nice in the summer if you're lucky.

Thinking of doing the motor home thing ourselves - probably going further over to the west towards Cape Wrath, it's the only major part of the UK I've never been, and there isn't really enough there to want to stay in one place for a week.

This is basically the same view as Eric's picture but facing the other way :).
