I'm thinking of getting one of those Rhythm Chief re-issues for my New Yorker, any chance you've played it with bronze strings? I know the originals were supposedly designed to work well with them but I've not heard too much about these re-issues.

Nope - lord knows what the strings were with the other Dearmond it came with (that I busted dicking around with string heights) - nickel summats I'd say.
