Best stereo amp/cab simulator for going direct to PA from Fractal FX8?

What's Hot

I've been recording the Fractal in stereo yesterday using a couple of Bad Cat heads / cabs, and it sounds glorious. I want to use the Fractal in stereo for some low-key gigs coming up, but setting up (and carting round) a full stereo amp rig doesn't appeal much, so I'm thinking of going straight from the Fractal into the PA via an amp/cab simulator.

What's my best option for a stereo unit - the smaller and more unobtrusive the better?

FX8 into a Kemper is ridiculously good, if a little self indulgent.

How about a couple of the tech 21 pedals - you could mix and match.

Not stereo, though, it only has a mono input.

    As does Amplifier, frustratingly enough!

That was my first thought - I was really impressed when I had one, but iirc it's only a mono input so to go stereo it would have to run in the loop, would make a great rig though.
The other option is to sell the fx8 and get an ax8.   One bank of patches when you run fx only to an amp and another bank for running into the PA. Thats how I use it.

    One Amplifire, one Kemper. Sweet.

Or a Helix - plenty of inputs... ;)

I don't need any effects, though.

The Sansamp Pedals might do it, actually. Anyone tried them DI'd into a PA?

Sounds crazy but you could probably do this with a iPhone, iRig (or other interface) and GarageBand

  • You could get two inexpensive preamp pedals such as AMT and Mooer?

I've done some pretty big gigs now wth a tech 21 blonde in to the PA. My experience is I hated every minute of the feel and sound I got on stage but from videos out front it sounded spot on for what I was doing.
Will send a private link to the video if you want.

I used to use an Award Session JD10 for this sort of thing - with an ART SGX2000 Express.
