What's Hot

Bit of an odd one this, but have recently moved house and am looking to get a chair for the guitar room. So what's your favourite place to play guitar?

I use a stool that I think was originally a piano stool. A lot of people on here like drum stools too.

I've got one of those high back mesh office chairs. I've taken one of the arms off, recently, to make it easier to sit playing guitar in front of the mac. Some designs don't allow for arm removal, though..! This one does, but my previous chair didn't..
so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

I like the compromise of a high breakfast bar stool. Feels similar to standing up but slightly more lazy. Also includes a foot rest. I just have an Ikea one

I have a cushioned stool but man does it take it's toll on your backside after a while. Think I'm going to get an office chair with removable arms

Office chair with no arms.  A lot of the time I'm sat at my computer when playing.  When I'm using the computer for other things it's an office chair, when I am playing the arms don't get in the way.

Yeah, currently have an office chair myself, arms get in the way a bit, again, not the most comfortable. High bar stool could be a good call.

Fancy! What sort of height does it go up to? Also have a standing desk at home so could double up

I quite like the cello stool.

I use mostly a Boss stool that has a swivel top and a foot-rest - quite comfortable.  Have not played standing up at all yet.

59cm according to the spec, so like a slightly high office chair. Not really standing desk height.

I have that and a more conventional RH chair for my home office / music room, and switch between them.

  • @Sporky any idea where to pick those stools up at reasonable prices?

I used to work in an office that had them but I nearly fell off my chair when I found out how much they cost!

I doubt you'll find them at knock-down prices - they're built for commercial use and will last you more than twenty years at home. I got mine from Back2 - they have occasional sales of showroom stock.

    There's one now for £410.

  • Thanks Sporky, I'll keep an eye on their sales. It feels like a lot of dosh but maybe not so much in the scheme of how much we all spend on GAS...

I'm not sure you can compare a nice guitar, amp and pedals to a stool.

My home office doubles up as a guitar room.  I use an office chair which has folding arms.  It means I can tuck the arms away when I pull a guitar out.

    Indeed.

The stool will be better made, more useful and last longer.
