Looks like a blackguard is about to enter the single pickup family

The long game was always to add a blonde/butterscotch Esquire to my single pickup fold.  I'd toyed with selling my 60 Double Cut to go towards a player grade vintage Esquire but the prices were still creeping way out my budget and the minefield of working out the originality of what parts made up the guitar proved too much of an issue for me to consider at the moment. I knew I'd never get to own a vintage blackguard but it was nice to dream.

I thought I'd got over the idea of this until I saw this pilot run Custom Shop Blackguard from 2009 appear on my Instagram feed.  A quick sell off of a load of decent gear started and a deal had to be set (don't panic it was nowhere near the listed eBay price that went up).  The added bonus is it's meant I get to keep my double cut junior as well!  Hopefully it should be arriving with me next week so until then here's some little teaser pics:

Superb. Fair play fella, what a fantastic collection of guitars you're amassing. Not jealous in the slightest.

Although I object to relics on principle, I have to say, that is one lovely guitar.

I just got my home made Esquire back from 'on loan' to my brother and they are such nice guitars to play. This Fender one looks pretty nice as well.

I love that sometimes the simplest instruments can be so much fun to play!

Nice guitar, I think Richard kept it for himself for a number of years so you can be sure its a good one. Think it originally came from Coda Music.

Cheers for the info!  I know Richard had been gigging with it for a while but didn't know it may have made it's way from @DougCoda originally.

Looks a beauty, and nice and light ;) good score! RH's pricing is always optimistic, even more so than usual for this one at £2,850! Glad to hear you haggled a decent deal.

Top notch! Love a blackguard, especially with a chunky neck profile. :astonished:
Only way to feel the noise is when it's good and loud!
