Backup amp advice.

I am going to get myself a back up amp for gigging and hopefully double it up as my home amp.

My needs are -

Must look nice if it's my home amp (we all know the grief that can be given if something isn't aesthetically pleasing). With this in mind the Peavey Bandit is out.

Cheap - I'm giving myself a £250 budget

Be loud enough to gig in a two guitar rock band. I can get drive tones from pedals.

Sound good at low volumes as well as at stage volume.

Be reliable - it's my back up, I don't want to have to get a back up for the back up.

Im thinking a Boss Katana 50 might be ok? If it's loud enough to gig. But what do you guys suggest?

Bandit, and a 'really nice' cover!
so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

Got to say "ID Core 100" don't I? Wee bit over budget but looks smart and has had a good reception for sound generally.

    Dave,

would you say that over the Katana 100? They are similar in price.

    Marshall CODE 50.
One day I'm going to make a guitar out of butter to experience just how well it actually plays.

Well I've just got back from gigging a Katana 100 again so am a little biased, Pig ugly or not, it bloody rocks. It's ok though @ecc83 I get my drive sound from a Blackstar pedal, the humble and much underrated LT Drive. Back to the OPs question, go Katana mate, you won't regret it and may find that the back up becomes the first choice after a while :)
