  • Yummy!

At long last, they've realised they *can* make a LP with chambering/semi hollow and not be slated by the vintage seeking crowd.

LTD Make a single cut semi, which has a bigsby, and is beautiful.

    Has Duncan pickups, too.

Yes - google "es-les paul" and you'll find a variety of Gibson and Epi models - both Standard and Custom.

New one's not as nice if you ask me.

  • I like a fancy top, but that's vomit inducing, especially in yawnburst.

If that was blue or green or grey, it would be stunning.

Noel Gallagher was using a silver Les Paul Florentine around 1997

Some of the US dealers have Florentines at the moment I think *quick Google*  Yes they do... http://www.wildwoodguitars.com/electrics/gibson_custom_shop/2013_limited_run.htm

The Florentine looks *much* better than the new one. The f-holes (plural, which is the first improvement) are better proportioned and fit the guitar much better.

I'm not a fan of bling and yawnburst either normally, but it's not too bad on that one for some reason.

I prefer the Florentine too, but there's a huge difference in price, and the Special is more in my price range!

The Florentine was sex. This new one... I dunno, the last "new" Gibson I thought didn't look somehow shit was the Jeff Tweedy SG. Apart from that, all barf central. No binding and dot inlays on that LP make it look absolutely shit.

That looks like a 1970s Framus Akkerman that was reissued as the Framus AK1974. Gibson made an Al Di Meola prototype guitar like that that never went into production.

Remember, it's easier to criticise than create!

  • While the special is nice, I really do want a Framus AK1974, there is a hole in my life just the right size for that.

Having said that, the Florentine is rather wonderful, sounds great too on this yeeeehaa geeetar video.
Wrong side of the pond in the good old US of A, so never mind.

Here's a review of the new Framus AK 1974 based on the old Framus Akkerman. They have been successful for Framus which is why Gibson might want to create a similar model.

I've often been tempted by one of these ...

Well, not *often* because they're not exactly commonplace.  But if I saw one, I wouldn't think too long about buying it.
Having trouble posting images here?  This might help.
