It's enough to make me try to tune my guitar to a C chord.

I wondered what tuning he was in... Thanks.
He was sounding ace and I think D&M's reactions were of genuine amazement..

If you watch the previous TPS episode that Joey featured on, he talks all about his tuning and really thick strings. Great player.

I hadn't actually heard the guy playing any proper music, just noodlewank. It's good noodlewank though, so I looked 'em up.

Here's some Bros. Landreth if you're like me. Turns out he's a decent singer too. Bit like John Mayer with hipster hair. Like it.

Don't talk politics and don't throw stones. Your royal highnesses.

  • Had the pleasure of seeing Joey in Bristol earlier this year just on his own... has the voice, the songwriting skills, the chops and the stage presence to make a real impact! Also one of the nicest guys you'd hope to meet!

I agree with Norwegian Blue. I met him by chance with Doug Chandler at Guitar Guitar, Camden ( I know Doug from way back and he introduced me) and we chatted for about 20 mins. Really nice guy and very talented, as are the band.

Coming from a small town, they'd get all the gigs going and they'd be varied genres and styles. They'd basically say "Yes" to any gig, nab it, be it jazz, latin etc and many times it was out of their comfort zone and then do the homework and digest anything to do with the genre leading up to it. Hence, becoming proficient at many styles and they're fairly young guys (under 30) but play with a real maturity.

I like his lead playing, but I find the songs boring.  Does he have any instrumental tunes I can check out?

The Bros Landreth album has better songs than his solo stuff imo, I do really like Whiskey his solo album but it is more a Jackson Browne type album, wistful, laid back stuff.

Some lovely stuff in the clips. I've tuned my Les Paul to open C, put the tremelo pedal on and have been noodlewanking most of the afternoon.  :)

  • He's kinda like a talented Ronan Keating from Boyzone.
    Kinda.
Give a man a fire and he's warm for the day. But set fire to him and he's warm for the rest of his life

I find him and his group incredibly boring, i'm sure he can play but the stuff he plays is about as interesting as a dog fart.

I'm glad others enjoy him, seems like he's being pushed as the new guitar (anti) hero by a few brands.

I'm insanely jealous of his singing and soulful guitar playing, but I don't think the songwriting is there at the moment. One to watch...

I checked out the Whiskey album and I'm not a fan at all.  His playing and tone are great the rest is really boring.  I didn't make it through the whole album to be honest.
