Belated NGD

boogiemanboogieman Frets: 12364

Got this Signature T from GuitarGuitar last week and finally put it down long enough to take some pictures. Planning to swap out the cream plastics for black and the awful truss rod cover will definitely be getting replaced. Still not decided whether to keep the scratchplate on or not. The fretboard is a bit dry, it'll be getting a dose of lemon oil when I change the strings.

Very nice. I almost bought a white burst one recently myself.

    I really like that.

I'd keep the cream plastics myself though :-\"

That is really nice - I've only just realised I have been getting these muddled up with the LPJ (doh)..

I'd keep the cream too, but what do I know.. Happy NGD :)

  • Thats a nice guitar

Much better without the scatch plate for me personally

and I would agree with @jaygtr about the cream plastics

The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

Thanks all. For the spec you get on these Signature T's I cant really see the point of going for a more expensive Standard. I'm sure there must be cost-cutting going on somewhere, but I'm buggered if I can see where. I forgot to say, I think I'll be putting on p/u covers, never been a fan of open coils.

  • Love the colour. I'd definitely stick with cream plastics too.

  • Lovely finish, like the colour, I do prefer it with no scratchplate though :-)

That looks really, really nice! Keep the cream plastics. I don't have a strong opinion regarding scratchplate on or off, though..
so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

+1 :) I think the cream suits the colour of the guitar. Like usedtobe, I'm 50:50 on the scratchplate, it looks good either way.

  • I'd say keep the cream on and the guard off for sure. Get that truss rod sorted though! HNGD

No scratchplate, but keep the cream. This is my opinion. :)

Defo no pickguard (and lose the truss rod cover).
I play guitar because I enjoy it rather than because I’m any good at it

I'm with the majority - very nice guitar, leave the cream surrounds, goes lovely with that colour, but without the pickguard.

Can't see the problem with the truss rod cover, though, cos unless it's just me, I can't actually see the truss rod cover in those pics, never mind what's wrong with it. :-S

EDIT: Ooer, just checked it out on the Guitarguitar website. Bleurgh, get rid!

Really nice guitar, keep the plastics but keep guard off, I liked the days when pickguard came in the case and holes hadn't been drilled in the guitar, now Gibson seem to fit them on all but plus tops and Sig models.

Defo change the trc - that's just not right..!

Nice. I like the contrast between the wine and cream so would leave the fingerplate on personally.

Aside from the Granadillo fingerboard any other differences between the Sig T and the Trad?
