anyone attempted body checking of nitro using hot/cold treatment?

Yeah.  I have tried compressed air, freezer and the blade.

overnight in the freezer is definitely the most natural, you can follow it with the hair dryer 

The blade takes lots of practice to get nice.

compressed air is just too localised and random

The lacquer needs to be well cured and it works better if it's thick, but I have got thin lacquer to crack by repeating the steps

I waited till winter and stuck the guitar in a case then the boot of the car, worked really well if you haven't got a freezer big enough
