I fancy a new amp ... but can't decide :(

Been fancying a new amp for a while but can't decide and no way of trying the two I fancy :(

Liking the reviews, owners comments etc of the Victory V40. Nice cleans, great pedal platform and nice and portable.

Also liking the sound of the Brunetti Pleximan, similar to the above but with extra grit and more plexi sounding and maybe more range etc, two channels.

God, I hate GAS :(

I've had a similar lust tbh. It's very confusing. On one hand I'm thinking of ways to get a more modern gained up plexi style tone (I own a JMP so I thought an overdrive would work wonders) or save for a clean based amp.

My issue is I love looking at Milkman, Mesa, Tone King....

Tbh, I heard a HRD the other night at a gig alongside a Two Rock... I wouldn't have done very well in a blindfold test! It certainly got me thinking again..

Go for the Pleximan. Who gets excited about clean pedal platform amps?!?

I tried a V40 in Australia last month. I had it just on the edge of breakup testing pedals and it was fabulous. Really impressive.

We've all been there mate !

There is no substitute for heading to somewhere like Coda (or your favourite dealer) and simply playing em.

Carr Rambler was my solemate finding...

  • I looked at the Pleximan but just ordered a Brunetti Singleman 16 as it will mostly be used at home and the ability to run in 1watt mode was appealing.

Have you had a look at the new Victory V40 Deluxe? It's tickling my interest with it's valve reverb and tremelo. It had the voice II switch and mid boost from the V40 so will get some nice crunch as well as cleaner tones.

I have a pleximan I may be looking to move on soonish. If you're ever down in London you're more than welcome to come give it a go.

I like the idea of a small portable head.
