Is the Gibson SG not popular? cannot find a standard one anywhere
So I have always loved the Gibson SG 61 in original heritage cherry finish, however looking at new items... there just isn't anything available that isn't a "special", "High performance", "satin", "faded" or other weird version of a guitar that was perfct in its original form.
Why is there no standard SG's available in gloss heritage cherry...??
also it doesn't have to be new, however everyone I can find are just weird combinations of the robotuners, 2015 necks, HP etc

I am keen on landing myself a P90 loaded 2016 Standard some time in the future.
I'm guessing that 2017 standards shipped to the UK have been sold and they are now waiting for the 2018's, which are based on the 61 Standard

If it's any consolation I tried a 2017 standard and it was shit.
I think you'll maybe need to wait for 2018's models, but make sure you try a few.

I've only really heard recent SGs having the 490s or the 57s. Just curious as this is quite new to me.
It sounds like you want a '61 reissue from the days before they started changing the entire bloody range every year.
Slim taper neck, '57 Classics, small scratchplate, early '60s style neck joint.
They do crop up on eBay fro time to time.
Thinking about it, you might consider the Derek Trucks signature model...?

I bought an Amazon exclusive 2017 Standard SG in sunburst which is BEAUTFUL and is, IMO, the best colour for an SG.
Very good price as well...well they were....
