Belfast is a lovely place to visit

What's Hot
In Belfast all this week. Doing the tourist things. And walking around the city. The open top bus tour tomorrow. A lovely place and well worth a visit.

Absolutely agree and wonderful, friendly folk and a lovely city.

We were there 2 years ago and it's also a good base for getting up to the the northern coastline (Giant's Causeway etc).

Off at the end of Oct for a few days so please provide more info.  We want to visit the Titanic Exhibition as its ben highly recommended and the Mrs has booked a Game of Thrones coach tour which takes in the giants causeway.  Was thinking about the bus tour of the city, let us know if its worth it.

    It's a fabulous place.
so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

The Titanic Museum is great and if you've National Trust membership, there's plenty of places to get into.

Carrick-A-Rede Rope bridge is great and on the way to The Giant's Causeway and the coastal path is wonderful

I believe we have some forumites from that part of the world who can pitch in with more

Where you staying Rocker?  Matchetts Music on Wellington avenue isn't bad and there is a Dawson's in Royal Ave, just opposite the Belfast Telegraph building.  That's the only two guitar shops.

The Crown Bar is worth a visit, it hasn't changed its decor since the 1820s, very nice bar.

mourne Seafood Bar is worth checking out if you like seafood.

  • Try and book a black cab to take you to do a tour of the Falls and the Shankill for some local history. The chances are that the guy driving will have first hand knowledge of the troubles. Crumlin gaol is a good visit too. You will also need to visit the Crown Liquor Saloon for drinks.

If you are a Led Zepp fan, you have to pay homage at the Ulster Hall as this was the place where Stairway to Heaven was played for the very first time live.

Isn't the Jameson's distillery just up the road from the Causeway?

As others have already said, the drive along the Antrim coast from Belfast to the Causeway is pretty superb.
I play guitar because I enjoy it rather than because I’m any good at it

Even better than having a Jameson's just up the road then.

My dad's brother married a girl from Belfast.

Even after more than 40 years in Devon her accent is still pretty strong.

There are some great pictures of my uncle from the early 70s.  He grew his hair long so that he didn't get mistaken for an English soldier when he went over there.

    There's another guitar shop - the best in my opinion, very old school. Bairds on York Street @bingefeller ;

Very pleased so many of you like the place. I feel all proud.

I was there on Saturday. They don't do the Fender/Gibson thing but rather Tokai/Faith/Cort etc. It's where all the 'old hand' covers band guitarists go for a natter. They have a good range of effects pedals JOYO/BOSS/Electro Harmonics/MXR amongst others.

    Very knowledgeable particularly on PA.
