The Strypes
Went to see The Strypes this week and was fucking amazed! Only went to see the suppprt band Man and The Echo who, one album in, are one of my favourite bands ever! And they were superb - great musicians, exceptionally well-crafted songs and clearly know their way round a stage!
But The Strypes were also exceptional - powerful, tight, punky, R&B-influenced rock like it was 1979 all over again! Reviews constantly compare them to Dr Feelgood and I can see why, but they have a very modern sound as well. So, great songs (although not in the same league as Man and the Echo!), great performers - maybe even the future of rock and roll?!!!
