  • Until you can replicate the pain of a 100w plexi, no Plexi in a box will ever get close!

Great fun but now I want to see a whole video from the other side of the window.  It sounds so much more epic with the entire room vibrating.

This video was mentioned on the Guitar Nerds podcast. I forget who it was, but one of them wasn't wearing earplugs and ended up feeling physically sick.

I've played a couple of JMPs at about half volume- it's absolutely glorious, but you wouldn't want to do it every day.

Don't talk politics and don't throw stones. Your royal highnesses.

Love that video. I've had the pleasure of playing a 2203 half stack at full tilt and it was glorious. That was in a big room though, I wouldn't fancy it in a tiny room like that!

  • What a horrible and scratchy tone. Sounds like an Argos practice amp.

True, it would blow up the right cab, you need two of them.

In the 80s I did a whole gig at Highbury College with a Marshall Jubilee 100 W on full belt for  The whole time .....  back then nobody thought anything of people playing that loud it was kind of expected .  Wouldn't want to do that now though !!

I bet the floor was shaking beneath their feet. I've played an AC30 flat out a few times dimed (no attenuator) and that's LOUD....a 100w Plexi is that like 3 or so whole dbs louderer? (like I really know what that is in real world terms).

  • I'd like to see the 21st Century counterpart of the same guitarists playing a full volume Line 6 Spider on 'Insane' mode.

I used to own a Soldano Decatone with matching 4x12 in snakeskin (still miss it and would have another in a jiffy). Every so often i would crank it full. Ribcage thunderingly glorious. But still not a Marshall.

The look on their faces too :)

I have a similar 100 watter and it is crazy loud.
It can feel too ragged on ten so I tend to run it (with attenuator) at 5-8 with a drive pedal in front.
I've no idea how Eric Johnson run his "lead" plexi on 10 with a tube driver in front. Must be some careful gain staging with specific v1, v2 tubes and the power stage biased right.

  • Love it! I used to own a 100W plexi. I only played it on 10 once, with a Les Paul in a rehearsal studio. What an experience, it was majestic and stupid all at once. The rest of my band were cowering on the other side of a foot-thick door.
I'm just a Maserati in a world of Kias.
