Musicman necks are just so tactile - even looking at it makes you want to pick it up and play it. Lovely guitar - GLWTS

Yup, the necks do it for me, what with this, the Cu24 30th, the rosewood neck on my partsacaster and the GSPBASSES roasted maple Jazzmaster neck that's gonna be on my next partsacaster.

Bump with a few more spec details:

The guitar is to my knowledge completely standard - no modifications.

The body is Alder, and it's finished in a hi-gloss candy apple red polyester. It has through body stringing via a vintage tremolo, with hardened, bent steel adjustable saddles.

Scale length is 25.5" and the maple neck has a 10" radius, with 24 high profile medium with frets.

Neck width is 41.3 mm at the nut, and the neck is finished with gunstock oil and wax blend to give a super smooth, non-stick finish.

Tuners are Schaller M6 locking items

Truss rod is adjustable, with no component or string removal required - there is a small black wheel at the body end of the neck into which you can insert an adjuster tool (and allen key, for example) and allows the wheel to be turned to make the neck adjustment.

Pickups are HSH with 2 DiMarzio Virtual PAF humbuckers and 1 DiMarzio custom single coil.

The pickup switching is as per the diagram below:

  • This looks very much like my old Silhouette. Did it come from Peach in Colchester? Totally agree that Musicman necks are the best. They are great guitars - I only traded it because I couldn't get used to having 24 frets.

It did. I'm struggling with whether it's this or the CU24. One of them has to go! I first picked up a guitar in 2001 and the first decent guitar I bought was a 1990 Silhouette, and which was a bit battered and bruised. If I knew then what I know now I'd have had it refinished. But I sold it. And that's why I bought this one - 16 years later.

Well done, bloody good pics especially off a phone....I can't take a good pic to save my life with anything.

Lovely looking Silo, I've had 8 EBMMs (still have 5) but never seen a Silo in the flesh altho I hear the original Morse was based on one so guess they would feel very similar.  Super guitars exceptionally well built. If I won the lottery I'll be back LOL GLWTS

  • Lovely! My (1989) Silhouette has a feature that lets you remove the entire scratch plate by unplugging it and to replace with another, loaded scratch plate - theoretically with a different pickup combination. Do they still do that?

I've done that myself on a few guitars by putting a connector in to make for easy swap outs but never realised the factory did it or offered it as an option even
