Help with a footswitch idea

I have a Princeton custom that uses the following footswitch.

https://andertons-productimages.imgix.net/23334-0994058000.jpg?w=640&h=640&fit=fill&bg=FFFFFF&auto=format&ixlib=imgixjs-3.3.0

It basically has on/off latching buttons for reverb and vibe.

I would like to either:

a: modify existing footswitch so that vibe button is momentary (ie, on when stepping, off when not)

b: make a new, single momentary footswitch that only activates the vibe, and reverb is always on

c: make a footswitch that will on/off latch the reverb and momentary on/off the vibe in a single box.

It it would be great if I could have a solution that lives on the pedalboard, mini size, with te control cable plugging into the footswitch as opposed to being fixed.

I dont mind soldering this stuff together but her but I don’t have the faintest clue where to begin, so any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Any of those is fairly easy. (Edit - my mistake, the reissues are different from the originals and need a 'break' momentary switch to do that with the vib.) Reverb needs a 'make' switch to turn it off, so simply leaving the reverb switching unconnected will do b. To make your own footswitch, all you need is a suitable size box, one or two footswitches of the right type(s), and a stereo jack. (And a stereo cable to connect it to the amp of course.)

  • Thanks for the input.

I just had another idea which would be to have an on/off flip switch at the top section of a mini housing for the reverb and a momentary on for the vibe just beneath it.

So so in effect, same wiring as currently exists in the stock footswitch but with the momentary on for vibe.

Whats the the best place to source these parts? Ideally single supplier.

I’ve already seen some two and six pin switches on eBay and am unsure which one I should get, as well as which type jack.

Although this one is described as push to make, it's actually both - you just need to use the other pair of terminals for push-to-break.

Maplin also sell diecast boxes, mini-switches and stereo jacks, which is what you need - eg this lot.
