Off to New York City tomorrow

What's Hot
Right. . I'm off to NYC tomorrow, flying with American Airlines on the 14:45 flight from Heathrow,  and arriving at JFK at 17:55.

Returning with British Airways on 2nd January 2018.

I haven't even packed my suitcase as yet - work got in the way these past few days and evenings.

I will have access to a laptop, so I'll try and follow up with some pictures.

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! I see from the BBC website weather forecast that it will be freezing when I arrive, and during the following week.

    Have a great time...

missis wants to got NY for her 50th next year. not in July when her Birthday is but nov/dec sort of time. I have already looked at 4-5 night deals in decent hotels, prices not that bad I thought.

I went about 10 years ago with college and it was amazing. The funniest week of my life as well.

As soon as we got off the plane we heard this guy absolutely fucking scream down the phone in a typical American accent "Hey Ma! HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!" and it just got better from there.
Got a cab to our hotel, paid, and the driver started to set off before my friend was fully out the door, dragged him along the road by the leg for a little bit. Went down the road and a homeless guy asked us for money, so we pointed to our friend Ziggy off in the distance and the guy starts running after him going "ZIGGY, CAN YOU HELP ME?!" at the top of his lungs.

This was all within the first 2 hours and stuff like this happened/people acted like this constantly all week. It was bizarre.

I anticipated seeing people outside John Lennon’s “last spot” but nobody seemed to be around

Go see the MET Cloisters. North West Manhattan. Well worth a morning.

Ellis Island is a must. If you havent booked it, the you can still do this online up to the day before.

If you have the time and money, then eat at del Posto.

PS dont forget the guitar shops. Guitar Centre in 42nd Street is located below ground and open until 11pm at night.

I’d love to do Christmas in NY, but I’m concerned about my criminal record.  I had a parking ticket two years ago and I’m worried I might be interrogated by immigration at JFK and anally probed then held in Gitmo in chains.

It's definitely somewhere that's on my to-do list.

OMG yes. They have an amazing lunch deal. Absolutely wonderful restaurant.  We're going in the spring - should be our first proper meal before we start a road trip down to Nashville.

I'm also a much better photographer now than last time I went, so hoping to improve on these..

  • Just a heads up that our American cousins aren't quite as 'inclusive' a we're used to in the EU. My sister-in-law who suffers from MS has just come back from the States and was appalled at how she and her wheelchair were just parked in a corner on several occasions while the 'healthy' people did their stuff.  She paid a serious amount of $ for a 60th birthday tour and came home in tears.

Check out Katz's - have a Reubens there - heaven!

Any more tips on guitar shops - preferably vintage stuff, off myself over the new year.
