get a volume pedal for swells.

there's a youtube channel 'chords of orion' - he has loads of videos about ambient guitar stuff.   he has a nice soothing voice, too.

Michael Brook is one of my favourite guitarists,
he was all over this loop-ambient stuff in the early 90s:

Some inspiring stuff in those videos. I fired the gun on a Neunaber Immerse, and then will see how I go on a delay pedal.

  • For a £200 budget, I'd look at the MXR Reverb. Superb for the money and I think it sounds better than the Neunaber. You can get some huge ethereal reverb sounds and the tails decay more naturally than the Neunaber. Highly recommended.

I bought the Neunaber. So far, I like it, although I'm not quite (yet) getting the sounds I was hoping for. I expect I need to work on layering with delay.

Make good use of predelay and EQ when layering

  • Reverb into delay. Also try two delays set to different times. Do something different to “buy Strymon, noodle, ?, profit”.

Rabbea recommended the specular tempus reverb pedal as an alternative to the strymon stuff. Still not cheap (about 300) but its a delay and reverb together from what he was saying. My mate picked one up after he said and has got some wicked ambient stuff out of it.
