Cheap Lightweight Pedal Board Material

I bought a Samsonite Suitcase for a fiver in a charity shop the other day, it's a fair bit bigger than my old suitcase pedal board, and lighter. Which made me think I could build a newer bigger one in there.
The old one is plywood, 2x4 and speaker cloth and getting very old.
Anybody using anything else on their homebuild pedal boards to keep the weight down, without losing strength?
