Photographers - what are the used gear sites?

What's Hot

I know there's a fair few of you who are into this at some level or other - so what's the Fretboard/Basschat equivalent for classified ads for used gear (outside eBay/Gumtree) ?

ta!
Red ones are better.

I'd tag @JEPBLEP but he'd have me high on Hasselblads and expensive stuff before you can say "Smile!"

MPB are very good. Not ‘classifieds’ like this but very good. There’s a buy and sell forum at dpreview.com but it’s probably 90% American users.

MPB prices I find is what you end up with after fees from eBay, without the hassle and without the risk.

LCE is another but I’ve only traded with them in person in a local store.

The X1D is pretty awesome... ;)

But yeah, what are you looking for? Speed? Sharpness? Low light performance? Size/mobility? Versatility? Video? Colour science? RAW capabilities? Glass quality/affordability? Are you tied into an existing ecosystem? Etc.

As to your actual question - I found this on Facebook, but it's been a while I've been on a forum...

  • I tend to use MPB. As someone said - once you take ebay fees and postage into account the price they offer is very good. And given they pay for DPD collection it's easy to sell to them.

I've also bought used from them and WEX. I've sold to WEX too, but it's not as seamless as MPB.

I mean for buying by the way - ebay fees aren't an issue :-)

Has to be ffordes. Which I only live 25 miles away from, as an aside. It’s the biggest second hear camera gear place in the U.K.

These, and camera jungle are good too, although I'd rather take a "risk" on MPB, Ffordes and WEX.

MPB for me. Their prices are good and the condition of the things they sell is usually better than their grading system describes. You’ll get a warranty too.

Or if you’re prepared to wait and do the necessary jumping through hoops then the Talkphotography classifieds throws up some decent bargains. They’ve got a good sellers feedback system on there too, so you can tell if you’re buying from someone you can trust.
