NGD - but not as we know it...

So, in the recent story of getting @Strangefan  properly equipped with a Greco I acquired a rather nice 2012 US Strat. I have a strat (fake) from Raygun Relics, and don’t play it that much, so figured that the incoming strat would be ok for trade bait at a later date. 

Matt sent me pics, and I liked the colour, but immediately decided the scratchplate would have to be changed back to original. 

So it arrived like this...

And was swiftly switched to this...

Then I thought I had better give it a little go... You can guess the rest. Coupled with the Anniversary Twin Reverb this thing sings. Had an absolute ball for a couple of hours messing about with every bit of Hendrix/Mayer/Clapton I could think of.

This then encouraged me to drag out the Relic...which was also ace. So then I bought this...

An American vintage 59. Complete with all the case niceties and a lovely just work in vibe...

Lookng forward to giving this a serious amount of time through the Twin too...

Don’t really know yet mate. It arrived at the man cave whilst I was away for work. Grabbed it earlier today and will give it a go this evening. But it will only be through the Fly. Will be Feb before it gets a proper blast....

I do have a Classic on the way...but I am going to make a serious effort to cut back on the acquisitions for a while.

although I still don’t have a Custom Shop Strat...

Both of those are gorgeous, I'm gassing immensely for a Strat, I torture myself looking.

Loving the strats, particularly the first one, colour looks really nice, reminds me of Mayer's first lot of signature strats. Maybe just cut back on Les Paul acquisitions for a while, continue with the strats though haha

Nice collection but in my opinion bad decision on the scratchplate, not saying it shouldn't be changed but the white one looks too plasticky for me the mint one one the relic would be better

Hey mate. Had a play last night. Initial thoughts - it's very light, and that gives it quite a lot of space - beautifully smooth sound to it - and a nice clear definition between the switch positions. Neck is a very comfortable, quite slim, D. Action is relatively high - and I think it has been set up that way to enable decent bends. These are known for choking out due to the profile if set low. It's not a problem for me - and I prefer being able to get a bend or two out of it. 

Overall - it feels a classier instrument than my Raygun and it just has a little more about it than the USA - a different vibe to it. Very pleased. Will be interesting to back to  back it with the incoming 50s Classic Player...
