I'm not getting the Stratocaster bit of the description. Is it a Fedner?

I reckon it's a Satellite/Kay from the late 70s given a lick of paint (all over, including the neck plate).

Good attempt at making it more Strat-like with three controls. Also looks like a great bodge using a Mustang bridge?

Yes, exactly that. The post spacing is correct but the bottom three are reversed - the low E one doesn't even fit on the headstock and looks like it's been hammered round the corner .
