Emmylou Harris at the O2

Saw this last night. Firstly, despite being 70, she is still an amazing performer with an excellent voice. Secondly, her band was a masterclass in how to give each other space, never overplaying, but still doing enough to keep things interesting. Her guitarist, in particular, was tasteful and definitely saw his job as supporting the singer rather than trying to be a frontman. Excellent stuff.

How was the sound?  I won't go to the O2 as I feel the sound is actually worse, if that's possible, than the RAH.

The acts on before Emmylou Harris didn't sound that great TBH. However EH and band appeared to possibly have a different mixing desk and/or crew and sounded great. I get the impression that EH, being the seasoned professional, was much more aware of balancing out the sound and communicating with the desk than the previous acts.

Emmylou Harris is my favourite female country artist. I saw her performing with Rodney Crowell a couple of years ago, and their rendition of Pancho and Lefty brought tears to my eyes - just beautiful.

It's when it's worse than the Brighton Centre that you want to worry.
