Using Phone Speaker as Practice Amp

What's Hot

It seems such a simple idea: I carry a speaker equipped bit of kit virtually constantly. I scored an iRig which is able through wizardry to allow it to work as a headphone amp: but haven’t been able to find any way of plugging in and using the phone without headphones.

anyone know of a product/app?

I don't think you can because the iRig tells the phone to mute the speaker  ... at least it does if your iRig is using the 3.5mm headphone socket ....
To be honest it wouldn't sound great if it was possible, a small portable speaker plugged in the iRig headphone socket is a better way but not as convenient

  • I think you can do this with an irig and the Tonebridge app.
i know I did it on an iPhone 6 this way once when I was sat on the couch.
don’t bother though it sounds pretty underwhelming

I have a small stereo AAA powered speaker that when you connect a BOSS ME5 from the phones out into it gives you a really usable range of volume and tones from the Guitar/FX - - or if no FX unit, just run a pedal in front as preamp... pic here:
