Right.  So I recently scored this rather fun LP Special Double Cut.  Bags of fun, albeit from a rather divisive year.

Don't care about logos and holograms and all that, but the electronic tuners drove me nuts.  So I scored me some Grovers and, while being no luthier, thought I'd have a crack at sorting it out.  At the same time I decided to swap out the stock brass nut.

Even on this one, which hasn't seen much action I think, the nut was starting to wear so the Titanium replacement came in handy.

Anyway, amidst all the craftsmen on this forum making ethereal wonders, here's my rather agricultural Tuesday evening.

Now I fancy a picture of El Che or Chairman Mao, or perhaps one of those Hare Krishna jobs to cover up the hologram

Good man! I got this 2015 tobacco burst single cut about a year ago. Off came the hologram, signature, tuners, paint, black hardware...

This year I’m going to go back over the nitro with more clear coat, rewire it and upgrade the pickup :)

That looks awesome. How did you remove the hologram and the signature? What did you use for the refinish?

    Thanks :)

Tbh I sanded them off. It’s also finished using nitro. In my haste to have the guitar playing I didn’t put much nitro on it so I plan to strip it down and respray it this year. Plays beautifully too.

All being well some new pots and a Monty p90 will complete it.

Looks great @JerkMoans - How do you find the neck on that model? I have a 2015 Traditional which has the C profile. It's a baseball bat but very easy to play. Same as yourself I have a back-up set of Grovers in the case for when I'm sick of the Robo-tuners but tbh, 2 years in and I've stioll not had enough of an issue to bother changing them!

That looks lovely @lonestar, great job. The headstock looks miles better with the Les Paul 100 logo removed.

The width is a bit odd at first blush but with string spacing as normal I get used to it pretty quickly: indeed it stops my high ‘e’going off the edge of the Fretboard which is a crappy play style error I’m prone  to making on my jazzmaster.

the Robo tuners drove me mad. Hence their removal.
