There are two Italian Primitivos (Reds). One is the Taste-the-price-difference at £8,50. The other is the Palastri (usually at £6,50, but recently on at £5,50). IMO the latter is nicer.

I must add a word for Wolf Blass Yellow Label Chardonnay which if you can pick up for £7 is superb value. Lovely smooth creamy oakey white.

I bought a few cases for about £8 at costco during an offer period last year
Baron de Ley Rioja Reserva
usually £12-13 in Waitrose etcsometimes can be found on offers down to £9.50
Again, costco had it on offer last year
Waitrose cuvee royale is cheaper French but not champagne - utterly delicious, dry and biscuity.
