Mesa Mark 5: 35 - Nick Johnston "Remarkably Human"

Love the tone of the Schecter Strat into the MK5:35. Never heard this fella before but he sounds great, not too widdly through most of it although there's a bit towards the end it's quite tastefully done, a nice melodic proggy tune, sounds a bit Steven Wilson. I'll have to look him up.

I have the most recent three albums (out of four). IMO each is better than the last but all have some great tunes on them. His chord changes and well-placed dissonant notes are lovely. As you have noted, he can shred like a demon but only deploys when necessary.

So nice to hear great Strat tones in a non-SRV-clone context. As you may guess I am well into him!

Still loving Nick Johnston, have his albums now and watched his vids with Henning (eytschPi42), Andertons and various others. Nice chap, nice refreshing lighter Strat tones and tasteful melodic player.

Saw Nick last week playing a clinic about 5 feet from me Amazing player - interestingly, he used one of his Diamond Series guitars, 2020 model with HSS (around £800 price) and played thru Keith Merrow's Kemper and he sounded just like you'd expect - what a player tho. Very interested in his Diamond sig model for that price.
