Xotic Soul Driven vs B.B. Preamp

Anyone tried both? The Soul Driven blurb touts its transparency and versatility but all the clips seem to just be fat, smooth, sustaining lead.
I already have a B.B. MB and from what I can make out, with something like an RC V2 running into it I could cover the sounds the Soul Driven does, unless the character of the Soul Driven breakup is significantly different?
