FS/FT Super cool Strat partscaster with CBS Fender neck.

I'm not using this much tbh, so I'm looking to sell it for around £600 (let me know if you think that's way off) or trade it for something interesting with cash either way.

It's an early 1982 Fullerton Fender neck which I've known since new. It was a spare neck supplied by Fender which hung on a mate's shop wall from new until they went bust in '84, when he took it home and threw it in a box.

I bought it early last year and have gigged it enough to make the lacquer start peeling, which most of them seem to do, although there is practically zero fret wear.

The body is three piece American alder, with proper early 60s style sexy contours, the bridge is Wudtone (and awesome), it has a fully loaded Fender American Vintage Reissue scratchplate, and a Fender jackplate, Switchcraft jack and Fender "F" neckplate.

This is a great sounding and playing Strat, with good quality components and a super cool neck. I had this and my '63 side-by-side for a while and felt no pangs of remorse keeping this one - it's a just a good Stratocaster, plain and simple.

It is a bit of a natural relic, obviously. I can supply more details and better pics, but functionally it's spot on.

Ok, more pics and details - the neck is early 1982, serial number E201207, and was originally a 3-bolt Microtilt. it still is in fact, I just drilled the two extra holes to fit it to a 4-hole body but it would still work perfectly on an original 3-hole Fender body.

There is no gap in the neck pocket, it's a pretty tight fit, in fact there is a small neck overhang on the treble side. As i said earlier, the lacquer is starting to peel away from the fingerboard edge in typical CBS fashion, but you don't notice it when you're playing it.

The AVRI scratchplate was a fully loaded NOS part which had never been fitted to a guitar, so the pickups are bevelled 57/62s, and the pots and switch are stock. I have changed it so the lower tone pot acts on the bridge pickup instead of the middle, and added a baseplate to the bridge pickup. It's a balanced, gutsy and full-sounding guitar.

The body is an early 60s style from Northwest Guitars, the tiny tiny details are not going to fool a vintage expert that it's a real one, but the contours and routs are very nice indeed. I originally painted it in Olympic White nitro, but preferred the natural look so stripped it back again, hence the white trem cavity.

The whole thing weighs 8.1 pounds, feel free to ask any more questions

  • If you'd have been here 6 months ago - I'd have taken it off you for the neck alone. LOVE the big headstock.

Love a natural body too. Great price, I'm sure it'll sell quickly.

Hi, whats the neck radius?  Any interest in some sort of trade against my roadworn telecaster butterscotch nitro?

It's a standard 7.25" vintage radius, which I'm no longer that keen on tbh, after years of Gibsons.

Nice.  Great looking '70s vibe strat, without the horrors of actually having a 70s strat.

What sortsa trade options were you after?

Well, nothing set in stone, but I've been looking at bunging it towards a Gibson acoustic, or possibly an electric, or maybe a Ricky 620.

Or swap it for a sunburst Epi Joe Bonamassa Firebird?

Dunno really, but I'm not looking for Teles, Strats, Les Pauls or SGs.

I dont suppose you'd be interested in swapping it for my Taylor acoustic would you?

@scalino65 that's a very lovely thing indeed, but I'm a big Gibson fan when it comes to acoustics, their voice just seem to suit my playing more somehow.

Thanks for the offer though :)
