eBay content: rare or overpriced?

A while ago these were retailing new for under £500.

So is this overpriced or does it's rarity justify the premium price?

It's worth what someone would be prepared to pay. I wish I picked one up when they were in production.

We'll see. If it doesn't sell then yes it's overpriced.

Re. the phrase “...worth what someone is willing to pay” always seems odd to me - and seems to be a post-eBay phenomenon.

I must admit - it strikes me as even odder in the eBay generation - surely something selling depends on the right buyer looking for it at the time it’s listed. There used to be a phrase that effectively said the only thing stopping something selling at a certain price was the right buyer coming along...

A discontinued item immediately gains some rarity value, even if it wasn't particularly desirable when freely available. Witness the Boss FRV-1 which has suddenly become the have-to-have handbag of guitar pedals simply through its perceived rarity.

A blue guitar though; that's stretching the envelope.

If it sold well they would still make them.

They stop making stuff because it doesn't sell well.

It doesn't sell well because buyers choose other guitars as preferable.

So rarity in a recent guitar is a silly way to judge value.

Not sure. There seem to be a lot of limited edition casinos out there. They can't all have sold badly.

    Quoted for truth.

@NelsonP Track the listing. If you want to make your idea of a realistic offer, communicate with the seller. (Good luck with that. The vendor is notorious for setting *ambitious* prices for all of its stock.)

Unless you are seriously hung up on the black and blue finish, it would make far better economic sense to purchase a pre-owned regular Epi Casino and just upgrade its pickups.

Nah, my Dear Old Dad used that old aphorism back when I was a sprog and he was wheeling and dealing British bikes. Which puts it more than comfortably pre-eBay.

    Not overpriced, it seems.
