I just bought an Ibanez RG (2005) with the Edge Pro tremolo.
From my understanding, this tremolo comes without the locking tremolo posts - and there is a mod available:
1. Change the studs and inserts
(or)
2. Change only the studs but screw in a grub screw at the bottom of the existing insert to create a ‘bottom/floor’ for the locking stud
Since the idea is to eliminate any 'play' between the inserts and the studs, I wonder though if PTFE tape will do the same job?
Pics below:
Left: the old 2LE2B locking studs [note the extended set screw in the center of the stud] and 2LE2A inserts that have a solid base.
Right: the non locking Edge Pro studs and the open base inserts.
