My work often brings into contact with airline pilots. A while ago, one was telling me he'd just bought himself a Mustang. First thing I asked was if it was right hand drive. He told me it wasn't the car. After guessing (wrongly) that he'd either bought a small horse or a smallish guitar it turns out he'd just bought a P51!

Obviously the airlines are paying him far too much money.

One of history's most amazing sights would be a USAAF raid over Germany in 1945.

Sometimes covered 300 square miles of sky, with 1500 or more bombers escorted by anything upto 1000 Mustangs.

Any Luftwaffe fighters who came up to intercept could manage one pass through the bombers before the Mustangs fell on them.
