Sticking things together ?

I’m too tight to buy the proper rack mount kit for my Shure wireless units, so I intend to fix them to a plain metal rack shelf.  What suggestions do you have for fixing one of these;

to one of these;

?

I’m not a fan of Velcro as it allows too much movement and the unit would feel ‘wobbly’.  Double-sided tape perhaps?  Cable ties?  Sticky double-sided pads ?  Dismantle and screw through the unit cases ?  Chewing gum?

    3m Dual lock would in no way feel wobbly. You'll need a chisel to remove it.

    Would magnets interfere with it?

    3M Dual Lock. It's velcro on super steroids and you'll need a crowbar to take it off. Otherwise you'll need to start with a drill and some brackets.

    You could make a piece of foam with a cutout?

    Similar minds etc...  I've bought some small neodymium ones to attach my wireless guitar sender to my strap!

    That 3M stuff looks amazing...  I'm getting some to try.  Thanks guys.

    How about drilling some small holes and get yourself a thread tapping tool and use screws.

    Hot glue, then if you want to remove it heat the rack plate and it will come off

    Make sure that Dual Lock doesn't make it too high to fit into 1 rack unit.

    I've ordered some low profile Dual Lock tape.  The height of the two parts joined is 2.5mm which won't be a problem in the rack as I won't be mounting the shelf immediately beneath another item, so there will be a small gap.  My concern about using velcro (and this stuff to be honest) is the wobble factor.  I've used velcro before to put pedals on a board and it irritates me that it's like mounting them with double-side sticky-back sponge.  You press the pedal and the whole thing moves as the velcro compresses.  I want no movement at all.

    Let's see how this stuff pans out.

    If there are screws in the bottom of the casing, remove a couple, drill holes through the shelf in the same places, and screw the unit to the shelf using the same screws, or longer ones if the extra thickness means the threads don't reach.

    Go easy with the Dual Lock, small squares in the corners will be plenty. For pedals I cut it into thirds, lengthways - it's strong.

    There's also a 3m double-side gel tape which will add less height if that is a problem.

    I use squares of that Dual Lock for fixing wooden valances on to the headrails of Venetian blinds. It's tough stuff!
