4th July...

What's Hot

When Americans say the date they say the month then the date.
Which is a bit arse backwards but no worries, not a deal breaker, quite intelligible.
But what's with "4th of July"?
Why do they say it our way for their independence day?

Any ideas?

I don’t know the answer to this but ask any British software developer about Americans, dates, and system locales, and see the response you get.

It won’t be “not a deal breaker”, that’s for sure :)

    Well, while we're at it:
    Comsat Angels, "Independence Day"
I've always enjoyed the minimalism (and the guitar sound just after 1:35)

Anniversary of the fall of Rome in 410?
Anniversary of the release of Windows 95?
Umm, the recapture of Berwick upon Tweed from the Scots in 1482?

Celebrating 7th April would have been a good pun about the US having backwards dates

My boss told me "dress for the job you want, not the job you have"... now I'm sat in a disciplinary meeting dressed as Batman.

I like to annoy people by asking "Why what happened on the 9th of November?"
"Working" software has only unobserved bugs. (Parroty Error: Pieces of Nine! Pieces of Nine!)
Seriously: If you value it, take/fetch it yourself

Important date in German history - Munich Beer Hall Putsch (1923), Kristallnacht (1938), and also fall of the Berlin Wall (1989)

    My wedding anniversary.

At my last job, the two other guys there who were married (not to each other!) shared the Fourth of July as their anniversaries.
My wife asked me to stop singing Wonderwall.
    I said maybe.....
