I've met him and was totally 'sold' on the guy. His enthusiasm for what he does is infectious. He has designed a modern classic and has remarkable knowledge of the history of guitar making. As I've said before, he's the nearest to a living Leo Fender or Ted McCarty we've got. And his quest for quality has probably had a bigger impact on the industry than any other maker.

Yeah, you can see the determination and self belief at the end where he talks about one day being up there with Fender and Gibson.

I watched that video a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. I find his passion for all things guitar utterly infectious.

  • That was about the time when he said "I'll make a left handed PRS when Steinway make a left handed piano"

That was fantastic, thanks for sharing. It's cool to see that a lot of the names from the factory are still around. The guy doing te fretboards, Higginbottom (sp?), is now president of the company iirc?!

I've reached the age/stage in life where I've suddenly started wanted one (with a curly maple top and birds).

My 40th next year...hints are being dropped (but I doubt it somehow ;-) )

They're frikkin lovely! I played one a few months back in Exeter - quite possibly the only PRS solidbody that could dissuade me from a DGT. I'm going to need to try them back to back before buying one over the other.

That's where I am as well. I've been promising myself a goldtop dgt since they came out and have been going back and forth between them since they released Paul's guitar.

The obvious answer is both but it'll be a LONG time before I have that kind of dough.

I have no real love of overly figured guitars, but PRS are pure craftsmanship.

The dilemma for me is that a DGT is really similar to a 335, whereas the Paul's Guitar is something unique. I'm expecting a DG Hollowbody at some point though, Dave told me last year that it was something him & Paul had been discussing for a limited run so that could be pretty special too, albeit not cheap at all. :\
