Gibson Les Paul Standard Plus:

Comes with the following features:

*Gibson Burstbucker Pro alnico 5 humbucking pickups, with coil taps on each volume control, plus out of phase and bypass on the tone controls.
*Locking Grover 'keystone' tuners.
*Tonepros locking tuneomatic bridge and tailpiece.
*Grade AAAA flamed maple top. My phone's camera has done this no justice whatsoever.
*Original Gibson hard case.

The guitar is in immaculate condition, plays superbly and sounds incredible.

£1395. £1295.

Edwards LP 92CD:

Fantastic MIJ guitar, patterned after a Les Paul Custom and in exceptional condition.

*Seymour Duncan JB and '59 pickups.
*Gotoch hardware*
*Long tenon neck joint.
*Real ebony fretboard (unlike more recent Gibson equivalents.

Comes with a hard case that is actually for a semi-acoustic, but does the job well enough (Edwards' normally come with gig bags).

£650.

Willing to consider trades and have cash to add for anything really nice. Otherwise, cash on collection only please.

I'm not sure, to be honest. I don't have any decent scales, so it's hard to check, but I'll see if I can borrow some. It's no heavier than a modern production Les Paul Standard though and they're about 7lbs, I think.

most lps are upwards of about 8.5lbs in my limited experience - and customs - ebony / metal tuners etc  regularly get to 10lbs + ; hence my question

Modern ones aren't really that heavy, thanks to the new weight relief system. It also depends largely upon the woods used. I've played R8s that were really light compared to my old 1994 Studio.

I'm down in Southampton, mate. I'm not traditionally a Fender guy, but I've heard really good things about Strat Plus models. :)

whats the neck like on the edwards?

I'd describe it as a '59. Not skinny, like a '60s, but not huge like a '58. It's a very playable size, with good support.
